So, you got the ring, you’re incredibly excited, now what?
Once the initial thrill of getting married has worn off, the job of planning a wedding can seem overwhelming to many. Chances are, you have never had to organize anything of this scale before. There are so many things to consider: finding a venue, looking for THE DRESS, and all the other vendors (especially the florist!)– the list goes on and on. Although nowadays there are plenty of online resources – and many of them are excellent for finding vendors, (like Theknot.com and Weddingwire.com to name a couple) – there is nothing better than being able to see, touch and taste what is available all in one day.
Bridal shows offer that possibility and are a great way to start off your search. In one afternoon you can meet multiple vendors, get a feel for what they offer, and decide whether it is a good fit for you, without having to organize multiple individual consultations. Most vendors who exhibit are local and will know the ins and outs of your venue and can offer you helpful advice and ideas you may not have thought of. Be aware, however, that there will be many couples vying for attention at a show. You may have to wait to talk to certain vendors and you will not get the individualized attention you would get in a private consultation, so use the opportunity to gather preliminary details, find out if the vendor works in your area and seems knowledgeable and interested in your wedding.
Once you have an idea of what vendors you want more information from, call and schedule an in-depth consultation. At Confetti, we will spend an hour or so listening to all your ideas and showing you photos of our work to inspire you. If you are happy with what you have heard and seen, an in-depth proposal will follow.
Finally, at a bridal show, vendors are there to impress you – don’t be shy and gather as much inspiration as you can and even if you don’t find exactly what you are looking for, there’s always the free giveaways and raffles – you might even win a honeymoon!
Come and see us at the Wedding Steps Bridal Show at the Waterview in Monroe, CT on Sunday, March 10th and see what all the fuss is about!
